use for the errata.  We need to have this, or else 5.1-RELEASE will go
out with the 5.0-RELEASE errata.  I think I nuked this (deliberately)
during the 5.0-RELEASE cycle and never put it back.

This change will be merged to HEAD folded in with some other changes,
post-release.
